Kuti Wildlife Park Malawi

Zebras at Kuti Wildlife ParkKuti Community Wildlife Park is a voluntarily run game reserve that was set up to work together with the local communities to provide education about the environment and how it can work for the people.
A combination of breeding programmes and reinvestment into the community is enabling Kuti to highlight the importance of conservation, while providing an opportunity for people to view wildlife in beautifully natural surroundings.
There are 11 villages surrounding Kuti Ranch, housing a total of around 30,000 people who are all stakeholders in the park. The Kuti Community Wildlife Park project helps to improve the living conditions of the surrounding community with micro-projects such as rehabilitation of boreholes, schools, clinics, tree planting and production of seedlings as well as fishing and collection of deadwood and medicinal plants within the park. 50% of the revenue from entry fees is also given to the community. An environmental education centre is situated in the park that allows sessions to focus on the care of the environment. School children visit the park on organised outings and are benefiting from the information they receive at the centre, lectures and other environmental activities.
The Kuti wildlife park concept aims to protect and maintain the gene-pool of flora and fauna in the area for future generations.
